Miami Telesource Building
In 1996, Michael Roark recognized the unprecedented real estate needs of the telecommunications industry both in Florida and nationwide. In response, he purchased a 175,000 square foot building in downtown Miami left vacant for many years. The design and retrofit to become Miami’s premier carrier hotel was completed within ten months from purchase to the receipt of the Certificate of Occupancy. The work involved extensive asbestos removal, complete gut down to the structure, extensive structural repairs; and new freight elevator and shaft, mechanical / electrical / life safety systems, 20,000 amp utility vault and related switchgear, 30,000 gallon generator fuel storage facility, public areas, redundant shaft systems and all other requirements suitable for a class A telecom facility. The property was fully leased within six months. Tenants included BellSouth, Cable and Wireless, Genuity, Qwest, Global Crossing, Layer One, Level 3 and Collosource.
Global Crossing Data Center
FiberMedia built Global Crossing’s 40,000 square foot signature data center in Miami, Florida with a multi-vendor telephony environment offering state-of-the-art secure carrier class conditioned ready space with ambient temperature controls and fail-safe redundant power providing telecommunications solutions over the world’s first integrated global IP-based network reaching 27 countries and more than 200 major cities around the globe. Completed in less than five months, Telesource’s construction staff performed value engineering, pre-construction planning and leadtime procurement during the design phase. Telesource Group’s experience and knowledge of telephony infrastructures resulted in a superior finished product completed within budget and ahead of schedule.
Tower City Infocom Center
In Cleveland, Ohio, FiberMedia implemented a fast-track, turnkey design/build/development solution to create a 500,000 square feet carrier hotel, providing the ideal mission-critical features for occupation by multiple data center and telecom companies. This $25MM upgrade transformed an abandoned retail building into a technology center praised by all industry insiders familiar with the Project. Historical preservation issues and impacts were considered and addressed in a manner to obtain tax credit approvals for this noted eighty year old building. Included was the design and construction of a new 100,000 amp power plant, 110,000 gallon generator fuel storage building and a metro area carrier-neutral fiber optic duct-bank system connecting the Project with all other major telecom centers to insure optimal connectivity options.
