FiberMedia data centers offer green IT infrastructure solutions.
Being a trusted partner in infrastructure support means not just meeting your needs but anticipating them. That’s why one of our main service goals is to provide our clients with the latest in green solutions through power, cooling and technology options.
This starts with our specially trained design, build and technical teams working to develop solutions that provide our clients with the most effective and efficient infrastructure solutions. Utilizing several measurements models including Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and its reciprocal, Data Center Infrastructure Efficiency (DCiE) metrics, we are able to quickly estimate the infrastructure energy efficiency of our data centers, compare and determine the benefits of energy efficiency improvements in real-time.
Our continuous research has led to improvements in combining heat and cooling through leading edge cogeneration systems, such as the 1.5 MW Kawasaki gas turbine with Xonon combustion by Catalytica being implemented at our Westchester facility. This cogeneration system uses natural gas to power a steam turbine which is interfaced with the existing main electric distribution through switchgear that is installed adjacent to the existing electrical systems controls. It captures the turbine’s exhaust gas and uses that to provide a supplemental source of heat. The steam resulting from this process is then converted into fluid used to maintain the 2N cooling coverage we deliver to our clients. All this is accomplished at extremely low emission levels of 3 ppm.
Other initiatives, including installation of solar panels, more efficient heat exchange systems, using outside air for cooling, and selecting energy providers that utilize a larger portion of renewable energy are under way. FiberMedia continues to utilize best practices, industry standards and monitor power, cooling and technology improvements to provide our clients with the most efficient and eco-friendly data centers in the industry.
